Benefits Specialist

It's an exciting time to come on board at Jamaica Hospital. Jamaica Hospital is a 404 bed fully accredited community teaching hospital with a Level 1 trauma center and a large network of community based ambulatory care and the largest voluntary ambulance fleet serving the City 911 system.

We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual for a career opportunity as a Benefits Specialist. Position Overview:

The Benefits Specialist position will be responsible for supporting the benefits function by analyzing data, reviewing medical coverage eligibility and benefits information, preparing reports and supporting the benefits function within the organization. The Benefits Specialist will work closely with other departments to ensure that information is accurate and data is being collected in a timely manner. The Benefits Specialist will also be responsible for supporting the benefits function by administering employee benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability and 401K.

Responsibilities:

  • Review data to determine eligibility and benefits information for new hires
  • Review medical coverage information for new hires to determine eligibility and benefits information for existing employees
  • Process employee benefit plans including medical, dental, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability and 401K.
  • Create reports on data analysis results for senior leadership
  • Support the benefits function by administering employee benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability and 401K.
  • Work with other departments to ensure that information is accurate and data is being collected in a timely manner.
  • Provide administrative support for the Benefits Department including answering phones and assisting in daily operations.
  • Work closely with the Benefits team in the creation, implementation and distribution of benefit-related materials and communications
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred; or equivalent work experience in human resources or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of related Benefits administration experience required.
  • Lawson, Infor/Kronos experience a huge plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required; ability to effectively communicate with a variety of people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail while managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, initiate and identify solutions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
